Twinbrook's Silent Hero

If you have walked around any of the various bike paths around our community, then you have seen the silent and hidden hard work of a local community member. She has walked the paths, picking up trash, for years without accolades or recognition.

Carol Hannaford shared this on NextDoor:

I have finally gotten a name for the woman from Rock Creek Woods who picks up trash every day in Rockcrest Park. Dawn Famen does not have an email address and probably will not see how much Twinbrook appreciates her commitment to keeping our park clean.

She told me "I saw trash--pointing to the walk around 7-11--and decided that someone needed to pick it up. I appointed myself." She is starting her 13th year at this task.

Some others have seen her and have thanked her and it has been suggested that she be recognized in the Rockville Reports. But, as she said, "I don't live in Rockville."

It doesn’t matter what side of Twinbrook Parkways you live in. Twinbrook is a community bigger than the boundaries, and we need to thank Dawn for her endless and wonderful work to keep the park clean.
